Do you need a special mattress for an adjustable bed?
Yes! Always make sure to get a mattress that’s designed to handle adjustments. Encased coil and foam core are the best mattresses for adjustable beds, while a traditional innerspring will not work because of its innerspring core.
What are the advantages of an adjustable bed mattress?
An adjustable bed mattress can be adjusted to fit your unique sleeping and lounging needs. If you like to read in bed, an adjustable mattress provides the support you need for good posture. Sleeping on an adjustable bed mattress is a health-conscious choice. If you have swollen joints, back pain, sleep apnea, or asthma, an adjustable mattress may help alleviate your conditions.
Is Resilience a hybrid or foam mattress?
You can choose either! The basic Resilience mattress is a hybrid mattress with a solid innerspring core and a Talalay latex comfort layer. The Premier and Luxe mattresses are foam (Premier) or natural Talalay latex (Luxe) throughout, and both feature Talalay latex comfort layers. Choose the version you like best.
What's inside a hybrid mattress?
A hybrid mattress typically has three main components: a coil support core (usually encased coils), a transition layer of firmer foam or latex to smooth the transition between coils and comfort layers, and a top comfort layer of memory foam, latex, or polyfoam for cushioning. Different manufacturers use different materials and thicknesses on their hybrid options.
Do hybrid mattresses use memory foam or latex?
Hybrid mattresses can use either, or sometimes a combination of both, in their comfort layer. Memory foam hybrids offer closer body contouring and a slower, more cushioned feel, while latex hybrids respond more quickly, sleep cooler, and tend to last longer. Resilience uses Talalay latex in the comfort layer across all three mattresses in the collection, but only the standard Resilience is a hybrid.
Do hybrid mattresses need to be rotated?
Yes, rotating a hybrid mattress 180 degrees every 3 to 6 months helps distribute wear evenly across both the coil base and the comfort layer, extending its lifespan. Most hybrids are one-sided and shouldn't be flipped, since the comfort layer is only on one side. However, the Resilience hybrid is indeed flippable!
What are encased coils? Why do hybrids use them?
Encased coils are individual springs in their own fabric pocket, which allows them to compress and expand independently, instead of as a unit. Hybrid mattress manufacturers use encased coils because they reduce motion transfer between sleepers.
What is gel memory foam, and does it actually sleep cooler?
Gel memory foam is foam infused with gel in beads, swirls, or layers and designed to mitigate heat more effectively than traditional memory foam.
How is latex foam different from memory foam?
Latex foam is made from natural or synthetic rubber and responds instantly to pressure with a bouncier feel. In contrast, memory foam is a polyurethane-based material that conforms closely to the body and responds more slowly. Latex tends to be more durable and naturally resists allergens, and it is usually a more costly option. At Monarch Rest, we’ve chosen natural Talalay latex for its strength, comfort, and antimicrobial properties.
